A special version of our VacuStand is in use at d&b audiotechnik in Backnang, Germany — reason enough for us to take a closer look at both the work stand and the company itself.
Even during our research, we were surprised: a true market leader practically on our doorstep — yet still surprisingly unknown to many. However, most people have likely already experienced the work of d&b audiotechnik without even realizing it: since 1981, the company has been developing and manufactures highly precise loudspeakers, amplifiers, and sound systems, complemented by powerful software solutions.
With around 1.000 employees worldwide, d&b audiotechnik ranks among the leading global manufacturers of professional audio systems. d&b products are used all over the world — at concerts, in theaters, stadiums, clubs, churches, and even on cruise ships.
A Passion for Perfect Sound – and Ergonomic Manufacturing
As soon as you enter the production facility, one thing becomes immediately clear: here, people work with genuine passion for perfect sound. The large loudspeaker enclosures are still handcrafted from wood in the company’s in-house carpentry workshop — true craftsmanship.
Before the characteristic black, textured protective coating is applied, Fezer’s custom-made work stands come into play. In this phase, even the smallest imperfections in the wood are filled to ensure a flawless finish. Each wooden enclosure weighs between 30 and 40 kilograms, and every side must be carefully processed. This is where the VacuStand demonstrates its strengths:
- Ergonomic working height — no bending required
- Heavy lifting is eliminated
- Faster lifting and rotating reduces setup times
- Simple operation via wireless remote control
- Secure positioning, even with complex enclosure shapes
Ergonomic Support Through to Final Assembly
As production progresses, the work becomes increasingly electronic. The prepared enclosures are fitted with delicate electronic components — once again requiring a great deal of precision and care. Here too, our smaller VacuStands are used: they hold the enclosures at an optimal working height, enabling precise and ergonomic assembly.
Every single loudspeaker undergoes a thorough final inspection before leaving the factory — And that adds up to several thousand units per year!
